On July 11, 2007 at 1745 an extreme thunderstorm moved across Williamsburg County bringing destruction to several places across the county. Call was received of a possible tornado touchdown just northwest of the city of Kingstree at the Williamsburg Regional Airport off the Sandy Bay Rd.

National Weather Service of Wilmington, NC was notified but no word has been received as to if this was due to a tornado or just very strong winds from these powerful thunderstorms.
